10-Year-Old Australian Girl Diagnosed with the "Most Painful Condition" Ever
A young girl, only 10 years old, living in Australia, has been diagnosed with an extremely rare and debilitating condition. This condition inflicts excruciating pain throughout her entire right leg whenever she moves or even when it is touched.
According to an article in the New York Post, Bella Macey's condition began when a blister on her right foot became infected during a family trip to Fiji. After further examination, she was diagnosed with complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), which is often referred to as the most agonizing condition known to humankind.
Ever since her diagnosis, Bella has been bravely fighting against unbearable pain that severely impacts her daily life and steals away her childhood. The pain has caused her to lose mobility in her right foot and leg, extending all the way up to her groin. Now, she is confined to her bed or reliant on a wheelchair for movement, whenever necessary, as stated on her GoFundMe campaign page.
CRPS is an uncommon and incurable syndrome that brings chronic and intense pain. Bella described the pain to A Current Affair as sharp, burning, and accompanied by tingling sensations. She expressed how she is unable to take showers or baths, or even have anything touching her leg, not even a tissue, as it would cause her to scream in agony.
This rare condition, often triggered by minor injuries or surgeries, has completely halted Bella's life. The young girl is now unable to move, bear any contact or sensation on her affected leg and foot, attend school, play with friends, or even wear pants. In search of answers, Bella's family sought help from doctors in the United States, as they were unable to find a suitable solution in Australia.
However, despite the promising news of potential treatment, the Macey family is uncertain about affording the expenses. To alleviate this financial burden, Bella's mother has created a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her daughter's treatment.
