The health department in Dehradun has recently confirmed the emergence of four additional cases of Dengue in different areas of the city. With these latest cases, the total number of reported Dengue patients in the district has reached 32 for this season. To diagnose the disease, the health department collected and examined 170 patient samples using the Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) test. Out of these samples, four were found positive for Dengue.
Presently, 14 individuals are receiving treatment for Dengue in various hospitals across the district. In response to the situation, the health department has issued an alert specifically for residents residing in GMS Road, Ajabpur Kalan, Bhogpur, Dharampur, Kargi, Singhal Mandi, and Tyagi Road areas. Furthermore, the department is actively engaged in source reduction activities and conducting awareness campaigns to combat the spread of the disease.
Dengue, a viral infection transmitted by the Aedes Aezypti mosquito, commonly known as the Tiger Mosquito, presents symptoms such as persistent high fever, rashes, headache, and joint pain. In severe cases, the patient's platelet count significantly decreases, which can be life-threatening. It is crucial for residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent the contraction and spread of Dengue.
