Raipur - In a significant development, health employees of all categories in Chhattisgarh have announced an indefinite strike starting from July 4, demanding the fulfillment of their 24-point demands.
The strike is being organized under the banner of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Swasthya Karmchari Sangh (CPSKS).
The employees of Dr. B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital and DKS Hospital, representing the CPSKS, submitted an intimation letter regarding the indefinite strike to their respective Superintendents on Monday.
This decision follows prior communication from the CPSKS to the State Government and relevant officials, expressing their concerns and urging for a resolution to their demands.
Alok Mishra, the State President of CPSKS, and Ashwani Gurdekar, the General Secretary, stated that the sangh office bearers had held meetings with Secretary Health Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi on June 26 and Secretary Medical Education P Dayanand on June 30, discussing the call for a state-wide indefinite strike.
Unfortunately, despite extensive discussions, no agreement was reached to avert the impending strike.
Consequently, all sections of health workers in the state are prepared to join the indefinite strike starting from July 4.
The 24-point demands presented by CPSKS to the concerned officials include several key issues.
These demands encompass proposals for improved pay scales for employees suggested by the Health Department and National Health Mission, regularization of irregular employees within the Health Department, payment of 13 months' salary to health workers, halting the illegal transfers of 10 medical lab technologists in Bilaspur, ceasing the recovery of 3/4 increments granted to staff nurses, ensuring promotional opportunities for single-post positions, granting a 10% radiation allowance to radiotherapy staff, restricting OPD timings to a single shift, providing Level-6 salaries to all drivers with heavy licenses, allocating 1500 sq ft land to third and fourth class health workers for housing construction, and offering financial assistance for building houses.
Furthermore, the demands also include designating senior pharmacists as nodal pharmacists in each headquarters to facilitate the smooth supply of medicines by CGMSC (Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation), canceling the order for RMAs (Rural Medical Assistants) to head all staff, taking appropriate action against officers who have been the subject of complaints by the union, and ensuring strict measures against officers for delayed promotions, among others.
The CPSKS leaders emphasized that the indefinite strike call has garnered significant support from employees across various medical college hospitals, district hospitals, DKS Hospital, Dr. B R Ambedkar Hospital, all CHCs (Community Health Centers), Public Health Centers, and Sub Health Centers.
The strike will also witness the participation of a considerable number of contractual and daily wage irregular employees, all united in their demand for the fulfillment of their 24-point demands.
The state government and authorities now face the challenge of finding a prompt and satisfactory resolution to these grievances in order to mitigate the impact of the indefinite strike on the healthcare services across Chhattisgarh.
